Veneers are thin sheets of laminate porcelain intended to look like the surface of natural teeth, being applied to the front tooth surface in a similar way to false nails. This creates a flawless smile, and the treatment has become popular in recent years as a result of celebrity endorsements and the growing popularity of Hollywood smiles.
How will veneers improve my smile?
Porcelain Veneers will perfect your smile by evening and smoothing out your smile line, greatly improving the shade of your existing teeth and will evenly proportion the size and width of your teeth to give you that beautiful, perfect smile! Once bonded, they become even stronger and best of all they will never discolour or stain.
How long do veneers last?
Veneers will last for many years, provided they are looked after well.
Will my veneers whiten?
No. If you would like a brighter shade, we would always recommend undergoing tooth whitening treatment beforehand, as we will then match your veneers to the shade of the surrounding teeth.
What is the process of having a veneer made? How many appointments will I need?
You will need two appointments - the first being the preparation appointment, and the second being the fit appointment. At the first appointment, the dentist will prepare your tooth for the veneer by removing small amounts of enamel to permit room for the veneers, take an impression and fit a temporary veneer. The impression, along with the dentist's prescription, will be sent to a dental laboratory, where the technicians will make the veneer. At the second appointment, the dentist will check the fit of the veneer and make sure that you are happy with the veneer's aesthetics. The dentist will then permanently cement the veneer. There is usually a wait of around 2 weeks between these appointments.
Do I need a veneer if I would only like small corrections?
In some cases, composite bonding may be better suited for you (click here to see our gallery). If you would like an expert opinion, please do not hesitate to book a Cosmetic Consultation where Dr. Steindl will recommend the best option to achieve your finest smile.
